SODO Block Party
Clear your calendar on Saturday, Aug. 10, because you’re not going to want to miss the annual SODO Block Party. This event is free to the public and includes plenty of options for eats from local food trucks, bounce houses and games for the kids, and ample opportunity to meet your neighbors and make new friends. Better still, free backpacks will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis if you register ahead of the event, and there will be raffles and giveaways going on throughout the day. Orlando Family Frenzy
Get ready to get crazy at the Orlando Family Frenzy on Aug. 24 from 1-7 p.m. You’ll definitely want to bring your appetite since the event is hosted by Perfkt Flava, Florida’s No. 1 Jamaican fusion caterer, and features an appearance by Cosmo’s Ice Cream, the world’s largest ice cream truck. In addition to great food and local vendors, there will be a KidsZone with rock climbing and face-painting to help ensure everyone of all ages has a great time.
Central Florida Soul Food Festival
There’s little that lifts your spirits quite like grubbing down on hearty, filling soul food. You can get your fill and more at the Central Florida Soul Food Festival, which runs from Sept. 28-29 this year at Eagle Nest Park. The star attraction is more than 15 food trucks serving up all manner of delicious eats, and there will also be live entertainment going on throughout the weekend. General admission for Saturday costs $8, and reserved table seating for four at the front of the stage costs just $100.
Night Nation Run
The one-of-a-kind Night Nation Run comes to Orlando on Sept. 7 at the Orlando Amphitheater, blending all the best aspects of a thrilling 5K and a night out at your favorite club. The NNR course includes music, neon lights, bubbles, and laser light shows, helping drive you toward the main-stage party at the finish line. The Night Nation Run supports Stand Up To Cancer and its quest to put a permanent end to the disease.
